Editorial Policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
EdCost is committed to producing accurate, useful, and unbiased educational content. This Editorial Policy describes the standards and processes we follow for every calculator and article.
Independent and Unbiased Content
Our content is created independently of advertisers and affiliate partners. We do not allow sponsors to influence calculator logic, article conclusions, or data sources.
Research and Sources
We rely on publicly available, authoritative sources such as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Internal Revenue Service, College Board, U.S. Census Bureau, Federal Reserve, and official government publications. Each article cites its primary sources, and calculators disclose the assumptions behind their formulas.
Fact-Checking
Content is reviewed for accuracy before publication. We verify figures, formulas, and source links. When errors are identified after publication, we correct them promptly and update the revision date where applicable.
Updates and Revisions
Financial data, tax rules, and cost figures change over time. We review articles and default calculator values regularly and update them to reflect current information. The last updated date appears on each article and legal page.
Transparency
We clearly distinguish between factual information, estimates, and opinion. Calculators display disclaimers explaining that results are educational estimates, not professional advice.
Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure
EdCost is supported by advertising. Any affiliate or sponsored relationships are disclosed in accordance with FTC guidelines. Advertisements do not influence editorial content.
Feedback and Corrections
We welcome reader feedback. If you believe an article or calculator contains an error, please contact us at contact@edcost.com.
